Best-In-Class Lighting Installation in Southwest Utah
There are so many lighting options available nowadays, from showstopping chandeliers to functional fixtures equipped with power-saving LED lights. Meanwhile, the rise of personal entertainment spaces—like theater and gaming rooms—has brought the kind of creative lighting once limited to commercial spaces into the home.
We can give your home an overall brightness with ambient lighting. The source of your ambient lighting may be discreet and functional or include show stopping pieces like chandeliers or pendant lights.

What We Can Do for Your Home
It may sound funny, but many homes were constructed without proper consideration to the interior lighting needs. For instance, older homes often have rooms where there are no light fixtures, leaving people relying on various lamps that take up valuable space in the room. Or, almost as annoying, there is a single light fixture that cannot possibly light the entire room, leaving areas in shadow.
Instead of struggling without the right lighting in your home, you can bring in HedgeHog Electric’s expert electricians and add the perfect lighting solutions to your rooms.
Additionally, choosing to add outdoor lighting can do a lot to increase your overall enjoyment of the exterior of your home. Rather than needing to retreat indoors when night falls, you can enjoy your backyard further into the night, or feel more confident when you come home late, and your security light turns on.
Accent Lighting
Often combined with ambient lighting is accent lighting. This type of lighting is usually added to a room for two reasons—to bring more light to all corners or to enhance decor. Many times, the ambient light fixture isn’t powerful enough to light all the corners of the room, so instead of huddling in the lighted areas, accent lighting can be installed.
Also, in rooms with only one light switch installed, our electricians can add more switches so that you can independently control the accent lighting separate from the ambient light.
As for the decor-enhancement of your accent lighting choice, you have a lot of flexibility and style options when it comes to accent light fixtures, ranging from things like stain glass wall sconces to bronze wire track lights. Decorative lamps are also considered additional accent lighting, and they don’t need to be installed.
However, if you don’t want to cover your available floor space or side tables with lamps, having accent lighting installed by our electricians can be a great way to utilize all your space and have it well-lit.
Movie or Game Room Lighting
Lighting for your theater, gaming room, “man cave,” or other home entertainment headquarters should include a combination of ambient and accent lighting.
Your multimedia getaway represents a significant investment in personal downtime and quality family time. As such, it should be customized to suit your particular needs and aesthetic.
Lighting for your home theater or gaming room starts with ambient lighting. This might include dimmable ceiling lights or wall sconces that create an atmosphere dark enough to highlight the screen but bright enough so you can find your seat and see your snacks.
Ideally, spending time in your multimedia getaway should feel like you’re having an extraordinary experience, leaving the challenges of day-to-day life behind for a while.
Accent lighting such as fiber-optic star ceiling panels and colorful LED rope lighting can help set a special occasion kind of mood.
Outdoor Lighting
The space outside the home is considered an expansion of the home.
Adding lighting to your landscape can help you continue enjoying your yard long after the sun has gone down.
The right lighting can help you navigate pathways and make nighttime use of your alfresco dining table or reading nook. Amping up your backyard lighting is also a good security measure, helping to deter potential intruders.
Accent lighting can also play a big part in your backyard design.
This might include using light to showcase trees, plants, and flowers; statues and other artwork; architectural details; and water features like your pool, pond, or fountain. It can also be used to add depth and interest to walls.
Ambient Lighting
The most common type of indoor lighting is ambient lighting. This type of lighting is meant to provide natural, soft light to a room like the light you would experience outdoors.
Most rooms need at least one source of ambient lighting. With one set source of ambient lighting, you never have to walk through a dark room tripping over things at you hunt for a lamp switch.
As for the light fixtures which are used for ambient lighting, there is a wide variety for you to pick from, including:
- Flush mount light fixture
- Semi-flush mount fixture
- Ceiling fan with built-in light fixture
- Recessed lights
- Chandelier
- Pendant light fixture
- Vanity bar lighting
Task Lighting
Similar to accent lighting, task lighting adds to the ambient light of a room. However, task lighting is often for more utilitarian needs where you need good, strong lighting. Rooms like the kitchen and bathroom often have task lighting, as when people are in these rooms, they often need bright lighting to accomplish tasks ranging from dicing vegetables to applying makeup.
Some of the types of light fixtures which are good for task lighting are:
- Bar vanity light fixture
- Track lighting
- Recessed lighting
- Under cabinet fixtures
- Pendant light fixtures
Kitchen Lighting
The one room of your home you are guaranteed to use multiple times a day is your kitchen. This area of your home is special, as it acts as a storage area, food preparation zone, and a gathering place where family and friends can enjoy time together.
By using the right lighting services, you can ensure that your kitchen is an inviting spot that is welcoming and well-lit. Since 2008, our team at HedgeHog Electric has provided exceptional lighting services. We can work with you to determine your needs and select and install the best fixtures for your kitchen.
Recessed Lighting
What Is Recessed Lighting?
Recessed lighting is a type of lighting that is set into the ceiling, rather than hanging from it or protruding out from a flush mount. Sometimes, this type of lighting is also called downlights or can lighting.
No matter the name, recessed lighting comes with three distinct parts that—depending on what parts are used—define the type of recessed lighting that it is. Knowing the available types of recessed lighting can help you determine what kind you want to be installed in your home.
Lighting Retrofits
Lighting accounts for more than 70% of all retrofits and remodels nationwide, and for good reason! Upgrading your lighting can not only improve the look and efficiency of your business but can also provide significant cost savings.
At HedgeHog Electric, our commercial electrical team provides careful, effective lighting retrofit services in St. George. We have the tools, training, and technology necessary to get the job done right the first time, every time.
Dimmer Switches
A regular light switch regulates the flow of electricity to your light fixture with a simple ON/OFF connector. When in the ON position, electricity is allowed to flow freely to the light fixture, while the OFF position moves the connectors away, which halts the power connection.
With a dimmer switch, you can turn on the electrical connection, but instead of electrical power flowing freely, you can regulate how much power the light fixture receives.
For example, consider a battery-operated flashlight. When the batteries start to run down—aka, less electrical power to the light—the light of the flashlight is dimmer. Instead of having a run-down battery, you can control the level of light from full brightness to low lighting, all by moving a switch. That’s why most modern dimmer switches have a control you can slide, giving you fine control over your home lighting.
